My one of the biggest hobby is cosplay - an opportunity to create and become someone who I really like, adore and love.

It all started with me spending the first month drawing a sketch of the costume and its parts. Then ordering all the materials, fabrics that I will use in the crafting process. One of the hardest part at the beginning was making sure that all the parts fit together because I was using a 5cm thick foam mattresses which tend to deform while made into cylinder shapes.

One of the new techniques that I came across while making this costume was mechanical hands. As shown in my uploaded pictures, both arms have strings that control the palm's movement(the thumb can be moved separately). And the funny thing about it is that I've used cylinder-shaped pasta for keeping the strings in place. I've also stitched woolen balls that are inside the plastic eyeballs for it to jiggle as one of the abilities that my chosen character has. And I've also made a backpack-belt mechanism, that holds all the costume parts attached to my body which simplifies the control of the parts while I'm moving.

My base materials for this costume are foam mattresses which are covered with different color plush fabrics. I've chosen these materials in order to represent the cuddliness, plushness, and the cute characteristics that Plushy Makoa has.

Cosplay photoshoot from 2020

I've made all the parts on my own I've only bought materials like: fabric, see-threw plastic balls for the eyes, a few zippers for the cannon and for body parts. Some belt buckle parts for attaching everything to myself and I've used my old slippers inside the feet part. So about 95% of my costume was crafted from scratch.

Every year I participate in 1-2 local cosplay events, but because of covid-19, in 2020 I had an opportunity to participate in an international cosplay event  - Hi-Rez Showcase

After a lot of preparations, costume adjustments, photoshoots and interviews with contest judges
I made it to the finals and won 2nd place in Journeyman category! It was my first time getting to the top 3, and it encouraged me to never give up on what I love doing.. So here's my Plushy Makoa cosplay showcase video edited by Hi-Rez team. Enjoy!
Thank you for watching!
